From Brampton to Corbridge: A journey made for discovering & sharing stories
Follow some of the most iconic stretches of the National Trail on our most immersive historical journey through Hadrian’s Wall Country.
Beginning in the historic market town of Brampton and ending in the ancient Roman town of Corbridge, this itinerary has been purposefully designed to allow meaningful time at the major heritage attractions that are often rushed through–or missed altogether–on shorter or faster-paced walks.
From Lanercost Priory and Birdoswald Roman Fort to Vindolanda, The Sill, and Corbridge Roman Town, each day combines rewarding walking with opportunities to explore some of Britain’s best-preserved Roman remains, alongside museums and landscapes that bring nearly two thousand years of history vividly to life.
We have carefully paced this itinerary for walkers who want to explore the history and heritage of Hadrian’s Wall Country as much as walk through its breathtaking landscapes. With time built in to visit Roman forts, museums, and archaeological sites, the journey offers a deeper connection to the frontier's story, while overnight stays and evening meals at some of the Wall's most historic accommodations and eateries allow that story to continue long after the day’s walking ends.
With Brampton and Corbridge providing heritage-rich bookends to the journey, this itinerary offers an experience that goes beyond the walk itself, connecting footsteps on the trail with the wider story of the Roman frontier.
We’ve designed this route from West to East for easier onward travel, but if you prefer to walk East to West, reverse routes can be arranged.
Hadrian’s Heritage can be adapted to suit a range of walking styles, with both faster-paced and gentler itineraries available. Optional rest days throughout the journey can also be arranged for walkers wishing to spend more time exploring key Roman sites, museums, and heritage attractions.

About Hadrian’s
Wall Path
A journey across England’s most iconic long-distance trail, where ancient history, unspoiled landscapes, and welcoming communities meet.
Steeped in ancient history and set against the dramatic landscapes of northern England, Hadrian’s Wall is one of the country’s most iconic National Trails. Following the line of the Roman frontier, the trail offers the rare opportunity to walk through an ancient landscape shaped by nearly 2000 years of human story.
Across rolling countryside, rugged crags, quiet farmland, and open moorland, the trail unfolds on a journey that is both physical and reflective. Some sections are bold and dramatic, others gentle and peaceful, each revealing a different side to the Wall, rich in history and atmosphere.
Hadrian’s Wall is not just a monument, but a living landscape shaped by the people who have walked it, lived alongside it, and continue to care for it today. Along the way, welcoming communities offer rest, warmth, and connection, giving rhythm to the journey.
This is a place best experienced on foot, with the insight of those who know it well. We design our walking itineraries so you can experience the Wall like a local–moving beyond the guidebook to discover the places, people, and details that bring the landscape to life. Each itinerary balances challenge and enjoyment, structure and freedom, so you can focus less on logistics and more on the experience of walking itself.
Every journey along Hadrian’s Wall is different, yet shaped by the same heart: a walk through history and landscape, where each step adds your own story to the trail.
